Saluhallen Höganäs
For nearly two centuries, the Höganäs ceramic factory was the focal point for pottery production throughout the Nordic region and was widely used for buildings, chimneys and sewer pipes. The well-known salt glazing technique is still used today. In 2012, the old factory area got a massive makeover and has been transformed into a market hall (Saluhallen) with deli, restaurant and exclusive shops created in beautiful association around the well-preserved old ceramic ovens. Saluhallen offers smaller meeting facilities (20 people) and a unique opportunity to conduct cooking classes for larger groups in the fantastic surroundings around the old ovens. In the factory area you will also find Höganäs Brewery where you can get a guided tour with sampling as well as the popular burger/biker bar Garage Bar, which offers probably the best burger, outdoor terrace and live music on the weekends. Also on the premises is the newly opened Blå Hallen – also previously a factory, now restored and used to large scale events and exhibitions.
